Hazy Morning

This piece began with the water. I wanted it to feel calm and slightly hazy, like those quiet moments early in the morning before everything starts moving.

I built up soft layers of blues and greys, allowing little flashes of pink and colour to appear through the sky and along the horizon. The distant marks started to suggest buildings, boats and perhaps a shoreline, but I deliberately left them loose enough to let you decide what you see.

There’s something I love about that moment when the day hasn’t quite begun — the water is still, the light is changing and everything feels full of possibility.
